Career Development Workshop for IT undergraduates

In parallel with Australian Computer Science Week, 2018 we invite you to be part of an industry sponsored workshop targeted at enhancing your employability in the IT industry.

60 places available across three local Universities (UQ, QUT & Griffith)

Purpose:

To provide up to date information, contacts and networking information for soon-to-be graduates in the IT field. Participants will be exposed to employment prospects, discipline trends, and predictions of demand and growth areas. In addition, research angles will be represented through the conference activities and displays.

Audience:

Local students from Universities offering IT programs i.e. UQ, QUT, Griffith.

Structure:

One day within the week where a morning, lunch and afternoon session are scheduled with different offerings and perspectives, namely,

Morning – Careers Conference in miniature.

  • Speakers from employability team UQ and ACS give short presentations from their field of expertise or industry segment
  • Audience interaction encouraged with questions
  • CV development
  • Networking and 3 minute pitch activity

Lunch

  • Networking event to coincide with research poster exhibits and possible short presentations by researchers
  • Industry booths and/or posters may be on site
  • Fundamentally this is a means of allowing networking between industry and grads

Afternoon session

  • Presentation from keynote speaker
  • Audience discussion and Q&A
